Create My Child's PageAbout this coloring page
Jesus sits in a simple home, talking with Mary who is seated at His feet, listening. Martha stands in the background near a table of food, her posture suggesting she is busy and a little frustrated. The room is warm and domestic — clay pots, a low table, a window with afternoon light coming through. This page captures one of the most honest domestic scenes in the Gospels: two sisters, one choice, and Jesus' response that surprised everyone. The contrast between Mary's stillness and Martha's activity, the home details, and the afternoon light give kids a page full of quiet tension.
Suggested Scripture: Luke 10:42 (NIV) — But few things are needed — or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.
The page is designed as a printable Christian coloring activity that can support a short Bible conversation, a family devotional moment, or a calm classroom activity.

Create a personalized Jesus coloring pageTeaching ideas for parents and teachers
- Before coloring, ask kids which sister they relate to more — Mary or Martha. Most adults will say Martha. Then ask why.
- For ages 5–7: keep it simple. Mary stopped what she was doing to listen to Jesus. Martha was too busy. Jesus said listening was the most important thing.
- For Sunday school: this is a good page for talking about busyness vs. presence. Ask, "What's one thing that keeps you too busy to sit and listen to God?"
- For family devotion: read Luke 10:38–42. Ask, "As a family, are we more like Mary or Martha right now? What would it look like to choose 'the better thing'?"
Print and activity tips
- Color Mary in calm, warm tones — she's at rest, focused, present.
- Color Martha in slightly warmer, busier tones — she's active, working, a little flushed.
- Use afternoon light through the window to create a warm glow across the room; it should feel like a real home on a real day.
Discussion questions
- Martha was doing good things — cooking, serving. Why did Jesus say Mary chose better?
- Which sister do you relate to more? Why?
- What's one thing in your life that keeps you too busy to sit with Jesus?
- Jesus didn't tell Martha to stop working. He told her not to be worried and upset. What's the difference?
- What would it look like for you to "sit at Jesus' feet" today?
