Create My Child's PageAbout this coloring page
Jesus kneels alone on a rocky mountaintop, His head bowed and hands folded. The valley spreads far below, with small villages and a river visible in the distance. The sky above is deep blue with a scattering of stars, suggesting it's late at night. There are no other figures — this is one of the many times the Gospels say Jesus went off alone to pray. The mountain textures, the vast landscape below, and the starry sky give kids a lot of space to work with while Jesus stays small and still at the top.
Suggested Scripture: Luke 6:12 (NIV) — One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.
The page is designed as a printable Christian coloring activity that can support a short Bible conversation, a family devotional moment, or a calm classroom activity.

Create a personalized Jesus coloring pageTeaching ideas for parents and teachers
- Before coloring, ask kids when they think Jesus prayed — morning, night, or all the time. Then point out that the Gospels mention Him praying alone more than almost anything else.
- For ages 5–7: keep it simple. Even Jesus needed quiet time with God. Prayer isn't just for church — it's for mountaintops and bedrooms and anywhere you can be still.
- For Sunday school: focus on the discipline. Jesus prayed all night before choosing His disciples. Ask, "What big decisions in your life might need a night of prayer first?"
- For family devotion: read Luke 6:12–16. Ask, "What's one decision our family is facing that we could pray about together before deciding?"
Print and activity tips
- Color the sky in deep blues and purples, with small white dots for stars — press lightly and vary the sizes.
- Use layered browns and grays for the mountain rocks; they should feel solid and ancient.
- Color the distant valley in soft, muted greens and tans to suggest the world far below.
Discussion questions
- Jesus was surrounded by people all day. Why do you think He needed to be alone at night?
- The Gospels mention Jesus praying alone many times. What does that tell you about His relationship with God?
- Have you ever stayed up late because something was too important to sleep through?
- What's one place where you feel closest to God?
- If you spent a whole night praying, what would you talk to God about?
