About this coloring page

Queen Esther stands in the throne room wearing her royal robes, with her crown on her head and her hands clasped in front of her. The king sits on his throne at the end of a long hallway, holding out a golden scepter — the sign that he accepts her coming uninvited. The hall is lined with tall pillars and decorated banners. Esther's posture is calm but you can sense the weight of what she's about to say. The architecture of the throne room gives kids a lot of decorative space to color — pillars, tile patterns, robes, banners — making this one of the more elaborate pages in the set.

Suggested Scripture: Esther 4:14 (NIV) — And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?

The page is designed as a printable Christian coloring activity that can support a short Bible conversation, a family devotional moment, or a calm classroom activity.

Teaching ideas for parents and teachers

  • Before coloring, tell the setup of the story: Esther had to go to the king without being invited, which was punishable by death unless he held out his scepter. Ask, "Why did she go anyway?"
  • For ages 5–7: focus on the bravery, not the politics. Esther had to do something scary to save her people, and she did it.
  • For Sunday school: the book of Esther never mentions God's name directly, but His hand is everywhere. Use this page to talk about how God works through ordinary decisions and timing.
  • For family devotion: read Esther 4 together. Ask, "What's a 'such a time as this' moment your family might be in right now?"

Print and activity tips

  • Use rich purples and golds for Esther's robes — she was a queen, and the colors should show it.
  • Color the throne room floor in a checkered or tiled pattern; even simple alternating colors work and add a lot to the scene.
  • Have kids draw a small dove or olive branch above the king's head as a symbol of Esther's prayer being answered.

Discussion questions

  • Esther fasted and asked others to fast for three days before she went to the king. Why do you think she did that first?
  • Mordecai told Esther, "If you keep silent, deliverance will come from another place — but you and your father's house will perish." What does that mean to you?
  • Have you ever known something was right but felt too scared to do it?
  • What does it mean that God can use someone "for such a time as this"? Do you think you might be in a "such a time as this" moment now?
  • The book of Esther never says "God" out loud. Where do you see God in this story anyway?
